An e-portfolio is a valuable tool where a person can display work in an easily accessible place for others to see. E-portfolios vary from blogs in the sense that blogs are often more personal as the authors “talk” to the readers and can be focused on many different things (beauty, lifestyle, travel) whereas e-portfolios typically are used to display a person’s achievements and allows them to show other people what they can do. Similarly to paper portfolios, e-portfolios also usually include a section on self-reflection or self-thought to demonstrate how your work has progressed. They can also be shown to potential employers, teachers, or anyone who may be interested in seeing your work. They usually include samples of work such as previous projects and art, awards, an educational profile, academic accomplishments, resume, references and more. In this way, they are similar to a resume but e-portfolios provide a more creative outlet to display your achievements and allow you to tell more about yourself. In the future, I will develop my e-portfolio to showcase my abilities if I am looking for more creative job or internship positions. By doing so, I will have everything I need to show employers in one convenient location. Because I have previously created a paper portfolio, I know what elements I would like to include in the e-portfolio and will work to further develop what I already have. Ideally, this medium will allow me to show others my best work which I will be able to update as I complete new projects.
