Canadian Olympic television rights go to…….
After a recession hit Olympics, advertisement revenue wasn’t as Rogers and CTV had hoped as they are looking for London 2012Summer Olympics to break even. Despite this fact, CTV Inc. and Rogers Communications Inc. are trying to continue their rights through to the 1014 Sochi Winter Olympics and the 2016 Janeiro Summer Olympics. However, this combination will prove to become interesting as BCE Inc. has bought out CTV Inc. This is very interesting as this will partner up BCE’s TSN network with Roger’s Sportnet networks AS WELL AS the two largest mobile phone companies in the country; Bell and Rogers. However, the rights aren’t going to be handed over easily. After losing the rights, CBC will be the main threat to the Rogers, CTV partnership deal. Then again, CBC’s coverage does not compare against the partnership unless CBC itself looks for a partner, most likely in Global Television Network. Personally, I don’t care who wins as long as I can see Canada represent us internationally!
