Ronson’s Sale

Today I went to No 9 Restaurant in Landsdown mall for breakfast with my family. As I got in the parking lot, it was filled with cars. I though it was pretty weird since there shouldn’t be so many cars this early on a weekend. When I finally found a spot( far away from the entrance) and got in the mall, this is what I saw. From my memory, Landsdown Mall only gets crowdy during boxing day, and maybe Chinese new year. So I was curious at what could have given rise to such long lineup. When I reached the end of the line, I saw this.

Ronson is launching a limited time one location sale for women’s shoes.A pair of shoes that are usually 160 dollars have gone down to 40 dollars which is quite a deal. I think Ronson has done a great job setting up the promotion as limited time and a set location, and letting people know by putting ads on newspaper(I asked people standing in line they knew about the promotion). It has switched from their usual profit orientation to sales orientation for this weekend.Ronson should have also left a good impression to people who wasn’t familiar with Ronson. For example, me! I haven’t heard a lot from Ronson before. But this promotion allow to remember this retail’s name for awhile by leaving me wonder when it will do another promotion on men’s shoes.

Interesting case study! Just wanted to clarify one thing, though: businesses usually don’t switch their pricing orientations (i.e. from profit to sales); one’s pricing orientation is a long-term approach to pricing. But regardless of their orientations, businesses can practice short-term pricing tactics – as in this case of Ronson’s, a price promotion (limited time, meant to drive a response). Hope that helps.

One other note: I can’t view the first image in your post; could you try embedding it again? Thanks!
