Abstract Submission

Drawing on inspirations from the ever-shifting and cross-disciplinary fields of cultural anthropology, archaeology, linguistics, and physical anthropology, we invite contributors to share ways in which they engage with and represent people and their knowledge, social landscapes, and cultural belongings. We encourage contributors to emphasize how they amplify vital issues, topics, and marginalized voices, utilizing an anthropological lens.

The 2018 Anthropology Symposium posters may address some of the following themes:

  • Anthropological research and legal entanglements over indigenous rights issues
  • Protecting cultural heritage in the face of destruction and violations of human rights—at home and abroad
  • Anthropological perspectives on transnational migration and movements of displaced peoples
  • Critical museology and collaborative museum practices
  • Embracing and bracing for emotion in anthropological fieldwork interactions
  • Ethical and legal issues with repatriation
  • Language revitalization, documentation, and linguistic sovereignty
  • Anthropological perspectives on the interweaving of natures and cultures in the contemporary built environment
