Welcome to the resource site for the Department of Language & Literacy Education’s Antiracist Caucuses (University of British Columbia, situated on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam people).<\/p>\n
Here, you’ll find a range of resources that have stimulated our discussions during caucus meetings (look for the \u2665 <\/span>and monthly meetings<\/a>), and others that our members have found formative. We hope that you might find them useful, too. To help you choose, you’ll find short introductions for some of the resources (our aim is to have an intro for each resource\u2014thanks for your patience while we work on this!).<\/p>\n These selected resources are grouped by main topic, and we’ve also highlighted the ones that are very accessible, e.g., free to access, shorter in length, produced for a more general audience, etc.<\/p>\n Finally, in sharing these resources, we don’t intend to present ourselves as being “free from racism” or “already antiracist”. Instead, we follow Ijeoma Oluo, understanding that we don’t need to be free of racism to commit ourselves to the ongoing work of doing antiracism, starting with ourselves and the systems we reproduce.<\/p>\n The beauty of anti-racism is that you don’t have to pretend to be free of racism to be an anti-racist. Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself.
