Cardiovascular Fitness Program

Aerobic Training:  Currently client partakes in Aerobic exercise well over the daily recommended values.  Because of this, client is not concerned with these areas in regards to health benefits.  She feels these areas are already adequately served by her recreation and leisure activities in retirement.  As trainers, we generally agree.  During winter months, client x-country skis at least 5 days a week, for 45 minutes weather permitting.  This is combined with brisk walking with her dog on a daily basis.   During the summer months, client continues to be very active aerobically, with daily, 20 minute, brisk walk/jogs, maintaining her garden, weekly dance classes, and weekly hikes in the mountains that usually have duration of 5-6 hours.  Client currently lives in an area where she can continue x-country skiing well into March.  However, as the snow melts, and summer approaches, client may find difficulty achieving the same amount of vigorous physical activity as her daily x-country skiing enabled.  Therefore, we recommend if the client finds herself struggling in this area, to find other activities that allow her to achieve the same all over body workout and aerobic endurance training such as swimming.  If and when she reaches this point, we will be happy to reevaluate her program schedule and assist her with creating a more secure timetable.  Until then, we have provided her with a table similar to this:
