While there has been much debate and research conducted on animals on the farm, as companions, and those in fish farms, there has been comparatively little research on fish kept as pets. The ornamental fish sector is large and fast growing, and the hobby of fishkeeping is becoming more and more popular with time.

This project takes a look into fish kept in aquaria and the ornamental fish trade, in an attempt to gain more understanding into this widely accepted yet relatively undiscussed industry.
