Tanks Come in Colours Other than Green or Brown

The background colour of a tank may impact a fish’s biological functioning. Certain colours may be beneficial, while another colour may induce stress in fish. A tank with a yellow background may be beneficial for Caspian Kutum, while the stress response of red porgy seems to be modified by a white background. This suggests that producers may be able to increase production and quality by introducing a background of a certain colour to a tank. This also suggests that with the simple insertion of coloured paper behind a tank, an owner of a home aquarium may be able to create a better environment for their pet.
