goji berries

A relatively new focus, along with the green revolution, is wide-spread health consciousness.  As many of us strive to be healthier every day, whether by eating better, exercising more, or cutting out/decreasing unhealthy habits – excessive drinking, smoking, etc – many companies in many industries are starting to take notice.  Recent occurrences of commercially endorsed healthiness like Glaceau vitamin water (debated whether actually healthy) and Sketchers shape-ups should be familiar to most of you.  From personal experience, the most common and effective way for a company’s new health product to catch my interest is for it to tote its health bearing qualities (if it’s a food item, I typically follow up on this by checking the list of ingredients [for example: margerine, no thanks! I’ve looked into how margerine’s made and I’d take natural, calorie-laden, non-processed butter over it any day]).  Goji berries, which are native to Tibet, have recently gained a place on the international stage.  Claimed as being nature’s “super-food” the little red berries have received a lot of attention.  Personally, I really like goji berries.  Albeit I’m a student and they’re expensive, I buy them anyways as I really like the taste, texture, perceived health benefits and sense of ‘quality’ I get from the particular packaging, growing procedures, and product description that come ‘bundled’ with my goji berries.  Also, I’m a total sucker for quality goods and usually look for the best (when reasonable) example of something when I intent to buy it.  That said, I am definitely a quality over quantity person, and I cannot stand cheaply-made, mass-produced-with-poor-labour-conditions ‘junk’ for lack of worse word (actually not true, but as this is public.. 🙂 ).  A new ‘healthy’ product that I’m currently trying very hard to purchase is a pair of Vibram Five Fingers shoes (http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/).  If any of you’re currently trying to get your hands on a new iphone (of which I also am), you’ll appreciate the issue of excess demand/insufficient supply, which is unfortunately also plaguing Vibram.  The reason I’ve chosen Vibram to be my next shoe provider (funny wording) is based on several things.  They offer a completely new and revolutionary design that I am greatly fond of. There is health-related research behind the product. They’ve been recommended to me as “incredible” by several individuals lucky enough to already own a pair. And I’ve had positive previous experience with the company.  Vibram makes the soles for Merrell shoes, and I’ve put at least 800 miles on my last pair.  What’s more is that they’re not even broken, they’re just completely worn out.  So with my ‘internal’ and ‘external’ searches completed for this particular product, I’m ready, willing, and sadly still waiting to purchase it…
