BP Gulf Spill Long From Forgotten

BP’s ongoing federal courtcase for the catastrophic events of Deepwater Horizon’s 87 day long spill could cost the oil behemoth more than (USD) $18 billlion in fines. To put that number into perspective, British Petroleum could put over thirty (USD) $560 million Deepwater Horizon’s into production for that amount of cash.

Not only could BP lose an amount more than twice it’s 2012 income, but it is now also under the scrutiny of the public. After the 2010 Gulf Spill, BP updated its marketing campaign – most notably changing its logo to incorporate a greener image with brand in an attempt to improve its public image. This move was not effective and many saw this as a hollow act of diversion. Since the change, activists and the environmentally conscious alike have been creating more accurate depictions of what the company logo should be (see below).
