{"id":561,"date":"2023-06-27T10:11:21","date_gmt":"2023-06-27T17:11:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/asablog\/?page_id=561"},"modified":"2024-09-16T11:35:35","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T18:35:35","slug":"submission-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/asablog\/the-journal\/submission-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"Submission Guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Topics should fall into one of the fields of Anthropology :<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Sociocultural<\/li>\n<li>Linguistic<\/li>\n<li>Biological<\/li>\n<li>Archaeology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submissions must meet UBC\u2019s conduct of academic integrity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Text is double-spaced, in 12 point Times New Roman font<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meet Chicago Manual of Style Author-Date citation, per the American Anthropology Association&#8217;s (AAA) publication style<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the submitted text is not in CMOS citation style and is accepted, authors should be prepared to adjust their formatting to CMOS for publication<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/americananthro.org\/publications\/publishing-style-guide\/\">AAA publication style guide<\/a><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagomanualofstyle.org\/home.html\">CMOS citation style guide<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Papers should be 4-12 pages in length<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a general guideline, we encourage articles of <strong>all lengths<\/strong> to be submitted<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Authors may submit up to 3 articles to be considered for each edition<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submissions should include an abstract of roughly 150 words or less<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Who can submit?<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All undergraduate students! We encourage those in 3rd year and above, however, all year levels will be considered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non-UBC student papers are also accepted and encouraged!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students up to 2 years post-graduation (submissions must be written during time as an undergraduate).<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>How to submit?<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submissions are to be emailed to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:asajournal.ubc@gmail.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">asajournal.ubc@gmail.com<\/span><\/a>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subject heading should read \u201cSubmission Winter 2024- Author\u2019s Name\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Submissions are OPEN NOW for the upcoming 2024 Vol.8 Issue<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/h3>\n<p>Any questions?
