Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy is deeply rooted in my beliefs and my future goals as a primary health care provider. One of the main reasons I chose dental hygiene as a profession is because it allows me to fulfill my passion of advocating for others. I am dedicated to helping people improve their quality of life through my services, and through myself as a caring practitioner. I will practice the philosophy of individualized, client-centered care, caring about the client as a whole being. This will bring meaning to my work, and quality in my care. I strive to empower my clients by providing tools to take control over their oral health through education, advocacy, and health promotion. I strongly believe in prevention and promoting health as a part of overall quality of life.

After graduation, I will continue to offer and perform the best evidence-based practices, meaning I will have a commitment to lifelong active learning. I will ensure to collaborate with other health care practitioners, and my peers. This includes maintaining ties with my classmates, who will be there to help me grow as a practitioner, helping each other through shared knowledge and support; For I am still learning and will continue to learn throughout my professional career.
It will be important for me to focus on my passions of helping others, minimizing socioeconomic health disparities, and giving back to my beautiful community. Living a life of purpose through my work will advance my clinical skills, and allow me to deeply enjoy what I do in the field of dental hygiene.
