In our society we value the Mohist concept of “impartial caring”or Jian ai.  Mozi believes that:

If one takes impartiality as the correct standard and truly seeks to promote and produce what is beneficial to the world, then those with sharp ears and keen eyes will listen and look out for others… And so men who reach old age without finding a wife or having children will get the support they need to live out their years. Young and helpless orphans, who are without father or mother, will find the support they need in order to reach maturity. (Mozi, ch.16, p.69)

That is to say, we believe that by valuing and promoting “impartial caring” the people of our society will focus on bettering everyone and not just themselves or people they favor, and that this in turn will benefit the wellbeing of the society. Additionally, by being “impartial” we believe that people will have less motivation to be corrupt or selfish because they are concerned with treating everyone equally rather than just themselves or their family. Therefore, citizens do not have to worry about feeling rejected or not being cared for because they are part of a communal society that cares for everyone equally and values all of their citizens.

Mozi views love or ai as a material benefit and not an emotional one (like Confucius’s view), but in our society we believe that ai can have both a material benefit and an emotional benefit as long as it is impartial in nature. In other words, we believe that both the material and emotional outcomes from ai-ing others can be beneficial because it  contributes to the overall wellbeing of the people.

Because our society values impartiality we provide citizens with free healthcare. This ensures that citizens are receiving all the health benefits they need in order to be at their healthiest while living in Vice City. Free healthcare also ensures that citizens are able to continually contribute to the society by working to the best of their ability.
