Qi and the Spirit:

In this section of “Religion and Morality” the aspect of religion will be discussed in more detail. The specific points outlined in this sub-category will include listening with the Qi or using the Qi as a means of understanding, the notion that all components taken in will construct the person you become, and the ways in which Qi is relevant to everyday life.

  • Our society will practice religion loosely as we are more concerned with the potential positives it can provide rather than the potential consequences.
  • As such, our society will have a thorough understanding of the Qi and will use it as a means of understanding.
  • The basic principle is that everything that surrounds you; you take in.  And everything you take in, becomes a part of the person you are.
  • More specifically, there will also be the basic notion that there is evil and there is good.
  • This understanding will be different based on the individual and the state will do little to alter interpretations of faith.
  • In other words, the understanding of good and evil will be used as a general path towards goodness.

1.  Mozi says that  “Even in the deepest valleys or vast forests, in those hidden places where no one lives, you must always act properly. For the ghosts and spirits will see what you do!” (Mozi, 94). Instead of using religion to threaten and create fear however, we hope to use these notions as guides for motivation towards becoming a better individual. We will also encourage individual interpretation of religious thought in order to successfully reach each citizen in a personalized manner.

2. As Mozian logic is concerned with profits, benefits, and usefulness (li), we wish to emphasize that religion is merely an aspect of our multifaceted society as opposed to our society revolving around religion.
