About This Blog

Hello, I’m Tiffany and as a girl who has pretty much stayed in Vancouver her entire life, the summer of 2014 opened my eyes to a different world. I had the chance and time to go on a month and a half vacation to Asia, mainly Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong. Except for Hong Kong, I spent about a week in each country. No, it wasn’t an extreme excursion where I backpacked everywhere I went, stayed in hostels or had to fend for myself. I travelled comfortably with my cousin and uncle, stayed in nice hotels and usually had someone who spoke the native language with me. But still, it was amazing.

I never really had a huge urge to explore Asia, even though my family is originally from Hong Kong. If someone was to ask me where my dream place to travel to was, I would have said “Europe” in a heartbeat. In fact, I’ll still say that now. But maybe… I would hesitate for a couple seconds longer before answering. The whole trip seemed pretty spontaneous to me. One day, I went over to my uncle’s place and he turned to me talking about this Asia trip and all these places we would go. It took me a couple of minutes to even register in my head that when he said “we”, he meant that I was included as well and not just his daughter and him.

So what’s the purpose of this blog? Well the entire reason why I made this blog was because of my creative writing course. The assignment basically said “make a blog about anything.” At first I thought, what in the world could I write about that would be remotely interesting to anyone? Maybe a blog about movies and TV shows, maybe something more analytical like reviews and such. But then it came to me that, hell, I just went on a trip that not everyone in their lifetime has the opportunity to have.  If nobody ever finds this blog except for my TA, at least I’ll have it out in the world, a document of my own experience, of something I found amazing.

All in all, this blog will have four posts on four out of five countries I went to. It hurts me that the assignment stated “four posts” since it’s so hard for me to leave out one of these countries.  Anyway, these posts will be a tidbit of my personal experience in these countries and the wonderful (or not) things I’ve experienced on my Asia adventure. All pictures that aren’t links are my own photos I’ve taken during the trip. Hopefully anyone who stumbles across this blog will be interested in travel or any of these specific countries. Or maybe you might just want to read about an outsider’s opinion about the countries.  But in the end, as long as you find some amusement out of these posts, I’ll be happy.
