{"id":646,"date":"2012-08-23T12:51:59","date_gmt":"2012-08-23T20:51:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/asist\/?p=646"},"modified":"2012-08-23T12:51:59","modified_gmt":"2012-08-23T20:51:59","slug":"asist-annual-meeting-2012-call-for-student-volunteers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/asist\/2012\/08\/23\/asist-annual-meeting-2012-call-for-student-volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"ASIS&#038;T Annual Meeting 2012: Call for Student Volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><strong>ASIS&amp;T 2012 Annual Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>October 26-30, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Baltimore, MD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Respond by<\/strong> <strong>September 13, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To help ASIS&amp;T student members who might not otherwise be able to participate in ASIS&amp;T meetings, we provide\u00a0an opportunity to attend the sessions and network with other members in exchange for assisting us in running the meeting.\u00a0 Students who have participated in our\u00a0program have found the experience &#8220;terrific.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How the Program Works:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In exchange for complimentary registration, we&#8217;ll ask you to help us run the conference.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll serve as a room monitor for about three sessions each day for three days.\u00a0 In addition, you&#8217;ll help out either at our registration desk or conference headquarters for a 4-hour period on one day of the conference. We&#8217;ve listed below the activities that you are expected to perform as part of the program.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Monitoring Sessions<\/p>\n<p><wbr>\u00a0 We&#8217;ll solicit your choices of sessions, by time period, and try to schedule you into the sessions you prefer wherever possible.\u00a0 Monitoring involves assisting the speakers and moderators, checking for name tags at the door, ensuring that the necessary AV equipment is on hand, encouraging participants to complete evaluation forms, and generally helping makes the session go smoothly.
