Firesheep\u201d<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/getfirebug.com\/\">Firebug<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shows html, css for each element in a web page<\/li>\n<li>Can test\/see how styles were implemented to specific elements<\/li>\n<li>Look at layout (ex. pixels in padding &#038; layout)<\/li>\n<li>Other features &#8211; will tell you what elements are causing issues if pages are having trouble loading<\/li>\n<li>Can help identify errors\/messy code (it\u2019s nice to have clean code)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2010\/10\/24\/firesheep-in-wolves-clothing-app-lets-you-hack-into-twitter-facebook-accounts-easily\/\">Firesheep Sidejacking<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People can use cookies to steal your information<\/li>\n<li>Dealing with cookies &#8211; Recipes \/vegan &#8230; Recipes \/vegan\/ gluten-free &#8230; etc.<\/li>\n<li>If a slash tag doesn\u2019t exist in the list of slash tags, you can add it to the user index<\/li>\n<li>The user generated libraries added to the index is makes this search engine different<\/li>\n<li>So the user searches through the site\u2019s original list of slash tags and users\u2019 added slash tags<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tosha \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/gazopa.com\/\">GazoPa<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Image search engine<\/li>\n<li>Search by image (not by keywords &#8211; no words needed)<\/li>\n<li>Upload, draw, or type in URL of image to search<\/li>\n<li>For example, upload an image and get results of similar images and information on how similar retrieved results are to the searched image<\/li>\n<li>Can change view of results<\/li>\n<li>Good for finding information with an image that would be very difficult to describe using words<\/li>\n<li>Has flickr option, so you can search through license types for images (fair use or copyright)<\/li>\n<li>Can retrieve information about the subject in the image<\/li>\n<li>Advanced search with colours, shapes etc. to find other related images<\/li>\n<li>Cross-language<\/li>\n<li>If you upload your photo, it doesn\u2019t get added to the images searched &#8211; but it does stay on their server<\/li>\n<li>You can add text to your image<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cynthia \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxitsoftware.com\/pdf\/reader\/\">Foxit<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>free for downloads<\/li>\n<li>PDF reader tool if you want something different from Adobe<\/li>\n<li>Can add annotations\/notes to all pdf texts (not same restrictions as in Adobe)<\/li>\n<li>Text recognition is a little wonky, but still okay<\/li>\n<li>Add notes to highlighted sections of the text (icon put in the margin)<\/li>\n<li>Write comments in the margins of the text (easy to add and delete)<\/li>\n<li>All notes are visible and readible in the actual document<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Alex \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mendeley.com\/\">Mendeley<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mendeley is another type of reader that also allows for annotation in notes and also is good for creating bibliographies.<\/li>\n<li>Foxit is good for editing pdf when done (ex. good for signing a pdf document etc.)<\/li>\n<li>In January a PDF conference in california will be held for fixing the tool<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Justin &#8220;ebook management&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/calibre-ebook.com\">Calibre<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open source e-book management<\/li>\n<li>Tag all books, metadata<\/li>\n<li>Conversion tool &#8211; take a pdf and convert to other style of document<\/li>\n<li>Features include ability to set it up to sync through wireless to your phone from your desktop at home<\/li>\n<li>Built in e-reader (for epubs and other ebook formats)<\/li>\n<li>Possibly useful for annotation &#8211; need to explore that option<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/manybooks.net\">ManyBooks.Net<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>didn\u2019t want to be locked into the system from Amazon\/Kindle<\/li>\n<li>Good site for finding public domain ebooks with better interface than Project Gutenberg itself<\/li>\n<li>Can browse through different categories &#8211; ex. creative commons<\/li>\n<li>Get in different formats (html etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Also check <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webscription.net\/\/\">Baen<\/a> who have a good good selection of older or advanced reader copies for sci-fi DRM free and for cheap.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qinqin \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.debugmode.com\/wink\/\">Wink<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Free download &#8211; capture screen shots for creating instructional videos etc.<\/li>\n<li>Can set it to capture many screen shots\/frames over a set period of time<\/li>\n<li>Can use voice overs\/audio track to accompany video<\/li>\n<li>Create video project of frames taken, edit frames, copy and paste frames, set time duration for viewing of each frame<\/li>\n<li>Set streaming medium in firefox<\/li>\n<li>File size is very small<\/li>\n<li>Can send to friends<\/li>\n<li>Compatible for Mac and PC use<\/li>\n<li>Limited features, but good for creating basic videos<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Shannon \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.web2learning.net\/\">What I Learned Today<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blog by Nicole C.
