This Student Directed Seminar is unique because it will focus significantly on professional development. Throughout the term, seminarians will be asked to look at the impact of development projects, and compare theoretical designs to practical implementations. In addition, learning will focus on development assessment and impact assessment, and the indicators used in these analyses.
The final project, which participants will spend the term working on, will focus on students developing their own development project proposal, based on a specific Global South country and partnership. As part of the project, seminarians will attempt to convince their fellow participants in the seminar to implement it, basing their analysis off real-world situations and needs. All learning in the course will support the development of this project proposal, and will scaffold into the final project.
