For the final project of the seminar, pairs of seminarians will create a Development Project Proposal (DPP).
This proposal will be structured so as to mimic a real-world proposal, and seminarians will be tasked with drafting their proposal so they are best able to convince their classmates to support their project. This will be the capstone in the professional development this seminar aims to provide.
We have structured this so that you work on this project all through the term and have enough time to connect it with what we are doing in class.
The process of this assignment is listed below and will provide a better idea of how much work this will involve:
- Choose your concentration country (CC)
- Set up your CC blog and structure it in terms of what you will need for your research
- Make weekly blog posts relating to case study and weekly theme to build background (200 words minimum) to scaffold your research (checked only twice a term)
- Do some outside research to fill in the knowledge gaps of its application to your country
- Present a particular topic based on your blog posts once in class to share what you are working on
- Choose a partnering CC to collaborate on the project with
- Define what you will be collaborating on and start working on the following subsections of your written proposal
- Development issue (background and justification)
- Objectives (development and immediate)
- Collaborating process (e.g. information sharing)
- Project implementation and management plan (expected results, activities and work plan, beneficiaries, division of responsibility)
- Project monitoring and evaluation
- Budget
- Proposal pitch (To garner attention of important leaders)
- Present your proposal (To convince for funding)
- Submit DPP
