\"NoahSteinberg_BioPic\"<\/a><\/strong>Noah Steinberg;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Noah Steinberg is an outdoor enthusiast, actively enjoying mountain biking, snowboarding and hiking. His drive to work in the outdoors drove him to seek employment in a resource sector, setting forth his path into forest management and consultation. A life of commitment to practice began with music, when Noah took up guitar at the age of 8. Following a long life of academic studies, Noah will graduate from the Forest Resource Management program at the University of British Columbia in May of 2015.<\/p>\n

Noah specializes in road design, cutblock layout and data analysis Through long term work experiences at summer camps, Noah learned management and communication skills. Entering forestry completing work sessions for a forest consultant based out of North Vancouver, Noah has experienced work environments throughout the province of British Columbia. Noah believes that working as part of a motivated team is essential to innovative thinking and development for the future!<\/p>\n

\"IMG_9606\"Paul Shives;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Paul Shives is set to graduate in April 2015 with a Bachelor\u2019s of Science in Forestry, majoring in\u00a0Forest Resources Management. Born and raised in North Vancouver, Paul developed a passion for the\u00a0forests and peaks of the Coast Mountains that rose up from behind his childhood home. It was this\u00a0fascination, along with a family history of forestry in Canada, which led Paul to study forestry at UBC. He\u00a0intends to spend his forestry career in the southern interior of British Columbia, a region where he has\u00a0silviculture work experience with a forest licencee. Aside from forestry, Paul\u2019s other interests lie in\u00a0hiking, traveling, investing and building furniture. He is excited to work as a member of Aurea Consulting\u00a0for the project in the Fraser Valley near Chilliwack.<\/p>\n

\"AdamWu_BioPic\"Jie (Adam) Wu;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jie (Adam) Wu was born and raised in Wenzhou, a city in Southeastern China\u00a0known for merchandise. As a 2+2 student, he spent his first 2 years of study in\u00a0Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University (ZAFU), Lin\u2019an, majoring forestry\u00a0Started the was transferred to Forest Resource Management program in the\u00a0summer of 2013. \u00a0Before he came to Vancouver, Jie had accumulated a range of\u00a0interests in forestry thanks to the learning experience in ZAFU, which had paved\u00a0he way for the further study in Canada. Once he came to UBC, Jie was amazed by\u00a0all the difference between Canada and China including diverse species that he\u2019s\u00a0never seen and different way of learning which he found all really appealing.<\/p>\n

In order to have better understanding of forestry and connect the knowledge he\u00a0acquired from different background, Jie applied for Go Global Nanjing Program in\u00a0the summer of 2014, which he believed was one of his best experience ever.\u00a0Currently Jie\u2019s interest is inclined to Remote Sensing in forestry and he intends to\u00a0continue his study in UBC as a master student after his graduation this coming\u00a0summer.<\/p>\n

\"lweyman-424BlogPhoto\"Luke Weyman;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Luke has spent three field seasons working as a Forest Technician for the Yukon\u00a0Forest Management Branch. During this time he engaged in forest research projects\u00a0and developed fuel-wood and saw-log harvesting opportunities for remote northern\u00a0communities. Yukon\u2019s northern boreal presents numerous planning considerations\u00a0including wildlife requirements, first nations cultures, and an abundance of heritage\u00a0resources. A member of the 2014 UBC silviculture challenge team, Luke is confident\u00a0working with others to solve complex forest management issues. Luke has also Worked\u00a0with the Toronto Regional Conservation Authority, completing wetland restoration\u00a0projects and surveys of Lake Ontario fish populations.<\/p>\n

Luke has a history of community involvement; volunteering at Toronto\u2019s Bloorview\u00a0Macmillan Centre, assisting with an integrated camp for special needs children and\u00a0working for Community Living Toronto as a support worker for autistic youth.\u00a0Committed to being an active member of his community and the lifelong study of forest ecosystems, Luke is driven to pursue a career in forest resource management.<\/p>\n

\"JordanYano_BioPic\"Jordan Yano;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan Yano is currently enrolled in his 4th<\/sup> year of a Bachelor of Science in Forest Operations at the University of British Columbia. He has lived on Vancouver Island for 23 years and it has been the perfect backdrop to explore his outdoor hobbies such as fishing, hiking and camping. These hobbies are what have drawn him to study forestry as a profession.<\/p>\n

Jordan has been employed for the past 7 years with a helicopter logging company named Alternative Forest Operations. His experience there has touched on all aspects of harvesting, ranging from setting chokers underneath a 60 foot tower to engineering and laying out proposed cutblocks. In his time at Alternative Forest Operations, he has had the opportunity to complete the danger tree surveys for the Southern Vancouver Island BC Parks, write up a grant proposal to further safety standards in the climbing industry, and manage a highly productive crew of forest engineers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
