I am from sugarcane
From trails, boardwalks, forested mountainsides
and Grizzly Lake.
I am from my glass carafe –
ritualistic, refractive.
Dizzying.
From respect the mountains
from Maureen
and Anne.
From chamomile,
crocuses.
I am from the mortar and pestle –
crushing, releasing.
From moose meat, mayday trees,
and movie nights.

Glad to meet you, Avery (maybe someday you’ll welcome me calling you Aves!). Your poem is a breath of fresh air. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Avery! I loved your poem so much! I also chose to include chamomile in my poem as my medicine/herb. It’s what I drink every morning! Nice to meet you 🙂
