In purple is the least hazardous descent path for the Cost Region.\u00a0The identified descent path <\/span>is <\/span>situated<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to the south of <\/span>Duffy Lake<\/span>. The least hazardous descent path descent<\/span> off the <\/span>southeastern<\/span> face. <\/span>The path avoids steeper\u00a0slopes off the eastern face of the peak. <\/span>Upon reaching the lake, the descent path follows a relatively low angle valley down to the road. While the va<\/span>lley has <\/span>norther<\/span> exposure the low angle offsets the risk of an avalanche.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The above is the hazard profile and identified least hazardous ski area within the coast study region. The Identified suitable location for backcountry travel in the coast region is between two mountains. The 25 <\/span>km^2 region has slopes on all aspects. While there are some regions of <\/span>higher<\/span> danger next to the identified location, there is <\/span>little increase in risk immediately beyond the region. <\/span>It appears that there could have been a more suitable location off to the east, but this may <\/span>have <\/span>been not<\/span> selected due to it not meeting the size or shape requirements of the location selector.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Above highlights the selected area by the MCE. The path crosses two streams and a major river before reaching the road. <\/span>Furthermore,<\/span> it <\/span>appears as if the descent path <\/span>moves around the steeper slopes by picking cells that are less risky <\/span>to<\/span> navigate through regions <\/span>of higher<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>risk.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Above is the identified region from the MCE along with its the hazard rating of the study area for the Mixed RegionThe identified region of <\/span>lower risk<\/span>\u00a0in the mixed study area is on the north face of <\/span>Windy Joe Mountain. <\/span>The selected area overlies a slightly hazardous section of the <\/span>mountain<\/span>. <\/span>While the section of the identified on the western edge is lower risk, it appears that the model has selected an area of higher risk to have in the middle\u00a0of what is <\/span>supposed to<\/span> be the least hazardous zone. <\/span>There are a <\/span>couple<\/span> reasons for this that will be talked about in the discussion.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n
