teaching philosophy

Mathematics is an extraordinary discipline that allows us to develop strong reasoning abilities, structure our thoughts to get a deeper understanding of the world and be in touch with an abstract esthetics. My goal is to support my students in discovering more of each of these three aspects of math, and in the process, leave them with enhanced abilities to think critically and logically; empowered with better tools to apprehend the physical world; and inspired by the various aspects of math that elevates it to the rank of art.

My responsibilities as an educator, is to create a supportive environment for my students’ learning. Learning should always occur as an exciting opportunity to get beyond one’s comfort zone and as such, should be supported by a working atmosphere that is safe, respectful yet challenging and inspiring. Since teaching and learning always go together, I see it as necessary to keep myself on edge: to keep learning, reflecting, sharing and participating within the teaching and learning community.
