{"id":110,"date":"2016-03-29T21:54:49","date_gmt":"2016-03-30T04:54:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/badgered\/?p=110"},"modified":"2016-03-30T22:30:18","modified_gmt":"2016-03-31T05:30:18","slug":"cattle-vaccine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/badgered\/2016\/03\/29\/cattle-vaccine\/","title":{"rendered":"Cattle Vaccine?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vettimes.co.uk\/archives\/news\/latest\/vaccination-cattle-lg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"329\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Currently there is <strong>no bTB vaccine available legally for cattle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>While the Bacillus Calmette-Gu\u00e9rin<b>\u00a0<\/b>(BCG) vaccine could potentially be used to vaccinate cattle, the current test available to detect bTB\u00a0known as the\u00a0Single Intradermal Comparative Cervical Tuberculin (SICCT) skin test cannot differentiate between vaccinated and infected animals. Thus, BCG vaccines for cattle are not yet approved by the European Union for use. For now, new diagnostic tests for bTB are being developed, known as the\u00a0Differentiate Vaccinated from Infected Animals (DIVA) tests.
