About

Growing up on a farm in northeastern Alberta I have always been curious about the way the world works. About how to take care of each other, the environment, and the world around us. Farming taught me many values, but most importantly, it taught me the importance of being rooted in connection. My passion for wellness acknowledges that wellness involves being connected to yourself, to each other, to the environment, and the way you make sense of the world around you.

My name is Bailey, and I am currently a Physical and Health Educator in Vancouver with a passion for school wellness. I hold both a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Education in Health, Outdoor, and Physical Education from the University of British Columbia. I was previously a CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer and  completed my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training through VNYSA.

Some of the many footsteps I’ve walked in include helping out with exercise physiology research at the Program for Pregnancy and Postpartum Health, working in policy with the Government of Alberta, being an Educational Assistant, leading programs for individuals with a disability at Adaptabilities, overseeing municipal youth leadership and recreation programs, and volunteering with Take a Hike.

Having the positionality of a cis-gender, heterosexual, white, settler Canadian I acknowledge I come from a place of privilege that influences the opportunities I’ve encountered and the perspectives I share. Ideas around connection and community wellness are rooted in both Indigenous and Eastern philosophies – and are not new ideas, despite the emerging trends in Western research.

I hope to create a space where we can connect with each other – and with ourselves – as we explore possibilities for education with wellness in mind.

Thank you for sharing this space with me.
