The Metaphor

For my graduating e-portfolio, I have chosen ‘the pathway’ as a metaphor to my MET journey, as displayed in this blog. The pathway has given me the opportunity to ponder and to think along the way, recalling the bygone narratives of the ‘trees’, recalling my stories to them, and learning from the past conversations and discussions in between.

I dearly enjoy nature! As such, what better way to express my MET journey than to use ‘the pathway’ to illustrate how I journeyed along for four years. It is my nature to work judiciously, despite the many errors I make along the way. It is my nature to learn from my experiences, despite the fact that I make the same mistakes many times. It is my nature to walk forward, despite the fact that I take many steps back to learn again. And, it is my nature to sit for long periods to ruminate about the associations I have with everyone and everything, always working to travel light-footedly. Hence, in regards to my MET journey, ‘the pathway’ is an appropriate and suitable metaphor to my nature.

The pathway has been my MET journey because, throughout the four years, the challenges, the successes, the connections, the learning, and the doing were remarkable in that the experience has taught me to remain pragmatic, reflective, and current, for I have understood that the MET program has been intentionally, purposefully, and deliberately designed with the graduate student in mind. This is evolutionary!
