Bio

After many years of studying, countless papers, and too many finals to count, English 301 is the final course of my degree. To say I am excited is a slight understatement. I will be receiving an Arts degree, with a focus in Economics. My passion for finance and economics began in the eleventh grade when my parents forced me to take a Financial Management course. From that moment on it was clear to me that Economics was the perfect fit. UBCO however was a pleasant accident. Growing up in Calgary, I always knew I wanted to move away for university, and when my acceptance letter came for UBCO, something in me told me to go for it. While I struggled to get through 8:30 am lectures, and 4000 word essays, and the occasional spurts of being home sick, my passion for economics never disappeared.

I have since moved back to YYC, and have begun the hiring process at one of Canada’s largest chartered banks, with hopes of being an investment associate before the summer is up. During the summer I am not only completing English 301, but also writing my Canadian Security Exam, it is probably a safe bet to guess I am at my local Starbucks working away.

When I am not nose deep in a text book, I hope to enjoy my beautiful hometown this summer, including trips to Banff, festivals downtown and of course all the fun that Stampede brings to the city, including rodeos, country music, countless pancake breakfasts’ and of course deep fried Oreos.

This is truly a summer of transition, moving, finishing my degree, and starting my career. While all are big moments in my life, completing my UBCO degree will always be a highlight of my life and something I am extremely proud of, and am excited that my final course will provide me with crucial information, practice and knowledge that will be so beneficial to me as I transition from student to employee.
