Canada’s Unemployment Rate is Going Down!

Why do students spend thousands of dollars every year to attend classes at UBC or any other post secondary institute?

To hopefully land a decent paying job in the future, obviously.

Lucky for us Canadians, our economy is not as highly affected by the global downfall relative to other countries such as our neighbours the Americans for instance. Our current rate of unemployment is at a low of 7.1 percent as opposed to USA’s 9.1 percent.

According to economists, our job market seems stable and “healthy”. Also, Shahrzad Mobasher Fard, an economist, said that our economy grow rather than fall. After reading this, I felt a sense of relief because now I know I’m not spending hours of my life poring over books for no reason. Previously, the abnormally high unemployment rate for young adults in countries such as Egypt gave me quite the scare. This article is a little piece of reassurance that Canada’s economy is still standing strong.

The youth unemployment rate of 14% is extremely low relative to other countries. I am definitely proud to be a Canadian.
