Isn’t one Walmart enough?

UBC Blogger, Karen Lee, stated that Target, America’s 2nd largest discount retailer bought out Zellers and is currently on a quest to take over Canada’s discount store market alongside Walmart. Target’s main competition is Walmart, who is also buying out Zellers locations for more openings for their company.

With the help of Sobeys, one of Canada’s largest food chains, Target will attempt to seek loyal Canadian customers. Personally, I think the arrival of Target in Canada is a great idea. Target will add another option for Canadian shoppers, such as myself, and a variety of items will also be offered. Apart from the edibles, Target also sells a variety of products such as clothes, furniture, electronics, and beauty items.

The first Target store will be in Toronto in March 2013. However, Target doesn’t plan to stop there. Up to 135 Target stores will be opened by the end of 2013. Finally, there will be an equivalent discount retailer to compete against the ethically questionable Walmart.
