Where to Recycle Cosmetics?

Posted by in Uncategorized

Below is a list of companies that have recycling programs. Plastic containers can also be recycled at your local recycling depot in the Greater Vancouver area or at your curb side if they have a resin label (a number on the bottom of the product, e.g. plastic 1 or 2). However, if the packaging (e.g. lipstick, eyeshadow compact) is not labelled with a resin number, you might not be able to take it into your recycling facility BUT some cosmetic companies may be able to take it back into their own recycling program.

M·A·C

Return 6 M·A·C containers to a M·A·C counter to receive a free M·A·C lipstick of your choice.

LUSH Cosmetics

Return 5 LUSH pots to any of their stores to get a free Fresh Face Mask.

Origins

Return ANY empty cosmetic containers to an Origins retail store OR department store counter for recycling. All returned packaging is recycled or used towards energy recovery.

London Drugs & TerraCycle

You can recycle cardboard, styrofoam, plastic bags, electronics and beauty packaging at any London Drugs store. They are partnered with TerraCycle to recycle plastic items into park benches and garbage bins. (You can also purchase a box from TerraCycle to send back with your products to be recycled, however, the options listed above do not require you to spend any money!)
