Lab #3, #4, #5 – Plant Organs

PLANT ORGANS

174Plant organs, namely, stems, roots, and leaves, are composed of the basic cell types and tissues which you studied in the “Cell and Tissue Types” Labs. It will help you to keep in mind that each plant organ must have (1) an epidermis,(2) vascular tissue, and (3) ground tissue. Without too much difficulty you should then be able to recognize basic patterns in stems, roots, and leaves. The examples we will be presenting are primarily examples from the angiosperms.

Note that due to a change in lecture schedule the sequence of the plant organ labs has been changed.

ROOTS – Lab 3
STEMS – Lab 4
