REVIEW OF ORGAN MODIFICATIONS
Introduction
The plant organs you have studied so far have been those with a structure designed to serve the more usual functions of the organ, i.e. roots whose primary functions are anchorage and absorption of water and minerals; stems designed to hold leaves up to the light; and leaves whose purpose is photosynthesis. The roots, stems and leaves you will see in this section, have been structurally modified to serve certain specific functions other than those usually performed by those organs.
