Actually this is a tetrad of microspores:

This is a microspore. It will undergo a cell division to give rise to a 2-celled male gametophyte (= pollen grain):

Below is the male gametophyte (=pollen grain)…talk about reduction…only two cells!!!! The generative cell will divide to give rise to two sperm nuclei.

Below you can see a germinating pollen grain. You can see the long pollen tube. The tube nucleus at the end of the tube directs the growth of the tube:
