ANDROECIUM
The stamen consists of a stalk, called the filament, and the anther. The anther is the site of pollen production.
You can see in this cross-section through the anther of lily that it contains four microsporangia. Meiosis occurs in the microsporangia to produce microspores which will become pollen grains. The stamens are collectively called the androecium.
Pollen comes in a variety of shape, sizes, and ornamentation. Pictured here is a mixture of pollen taken from a number of different species.
