The Indian Act

he government  have charged the aboriginal staffs since Canada has been build in 1867. The Indian Act has been build for government to control Indian status, land, resources, wills, education, band administration of aboriginal life except Inuit and Métis. The Act aimed to assimilate the First nation by prohibit people who have education background participate the traditional practices. Also, they let the aboriginal children attend to the residential school in order to let them forget their language and culture. But later, Prime Minister Stephen Harper made a formal apology for such policy harm to aboriginal people. And about the two sides relationship, some aboriginal people confused about the relationship with the Indian Act. Because they reject the paternalism, but at the same time they are looking forward to the protection from it. As far as I am concerned, the aboriginal people should remember their own culture and traditional practices and denounce the paternalism of the Act. And at the same time, the government should give enough protection for them in order to keep the harmony in the land.

Facebook Receives European Approval for $19 Billion WhatsApp Deal

Facebook is nearly finishing the line of $19 billion acquisition of WhatsApp, a message service. But the Europe’s competition authorities claim that this action may harm the European messaging and voice business.

The industry watchers view this acquisition as a test of how Europe’s antitrust would react to Facebook purchase. Those European antitrust believe that although both facebook and whatsapp combine into one company and almost one billion people now use whatsapp and facebook, consumers still have chances to choose other social communication apps like Line and WeChat. And these social networks will also bring the competition for text message business in Europe countries.

Also, the privacy group have criticized Facebook’s purchase of WhatsApp that society fear that the consumers information will be shared by Facebook and WhatsApp. But both of them claim that they would not acquire any infromation from others.

As a social webwork user, I really expect the combination of those two big companies, because it would bring much more convinence for our social lives.

The coorpration between Apple and Microsoft

As a result of the distinctive operating systems, Apple and Microsoft are always in the conflict. The incongruity and distinct characteristics between Apple and Microsoft, which cause inefficiency and lots of troubles, has been a headache for customers for long and made both the companies lose interests and customers.

But what is not bad was that the two companies realized that if they did not cooperate and compromise with each other, both of them would have greater loss. Thereby, the collaboration opened up markets for both companies, resulting in a mutually beneficial mode rather than an endless competition in which no one really wins. Microsoft updated the office for Mac 2011, great software that made convenience to the users of Mac. Apple also made Safari available for Windows and the iPod compatible with Windows.

As far as I am concerned, such compatibility between those competitors not only benefits both two companies, but also provides the customers with simpler operation as well as multiple choices, and consequently, promotes the market to a large extent.
