he government have charged the aboriginal staffs since Canada has been build in 1867. The Indian Act has been build for government to control Indian status, land, resources, wills, education, band administration of aboriginal life except Inuit and Métis. The Act aimed to assimilate the First nation by prohibit people who have education background participate the traditional practices. Also, they let the aboriginal children attend to the residential school in order to let them forget their language and culture. But later, Prime Minister Stephen Harper made a formal apology for such policy harm to aboriginal people. And about the two sides relationship, some aboriginal people confused about the relationship with the Indian Act. Because they reject the paternalism, but at the same time they are looking forward to the protection from it. As far as I am concerned, the aboriginal people should remember their own culture and traditional practices and denounce the paternalism of the Act. And at the same time, the government should give enough protection for them in order to keep the harmony in the land.
