Facebook is nearly finishing the line of $19 billion acquisition of WhatsApp, a message service. But the Europe’s competition authorities claim that this action may harm the European messaging and voice business.
The industry watchers view this acquisition as a test of how Europe’s antitrust would react to Facebook purchase. Those European antitrust believe that although both facebook and whatsapp combine into one company and almost one billion people now use whatsapp and facebook, consumers still have chances to choose other social communication apps like Line and WeChat. And these social networks will also bring the competition for text message business in Europe countries.
Also, the privacy group have criticized Facebook’s purchase of WhatsApp that society fear that the consumers information will be shared by Facebook and WhatsApp. But both of them claim that they would not acquire any infromation from others.
As a social webwork user, I really expect the combination of those two big companies, because it would bring much more convinence for our social lives.
