Getting to Net-Zero: Transformational Change in an Incremental World
Simon Donner
University of British Columbia
Climate change is the challenge of the century. The world needs to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the latter half of the century for a reasonable chance at achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. This will require shifting from incremental to transformational approaches to climate policy. In this presentation, I’ll talk about real-world obstacles and provide lessons for researchers, based on my experience advising the federal government as co-chair of the Canada’s Net-Zero Advisory Body, from which I resigned in December.
The UBC-DIBS Behavioural Insights Seminar series features researchers and practitioners sharing their field and lab projects using the behavioural and decision sciences to “nudge for good”. Recordings of past seminars are available on the BI wiki here. To subscribe or unsubscribe, email dibs@sauder.ubc.ca.
