{"id":5296,"date":"2024-11-18T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-18T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/biwiki\/?p=5296"},"modified":"2024-11-08T14:39:43","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T21:39:43","slug":"resource-bi-program-uptake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/biwiki\/2024\/11\/18\/resource-bi-program-uptake\/","title":{"rendered":"Resource: BI &amp; Program Uptake"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re kicking off a week highlighting recent capstone projects from UBC&#8217;s <em>Advanced Professional Certificate in Behavioural Insights<\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the Class of 2024, Tim Hannan, Janet Hankins, Brent Novikoff, and Breanna Gregerson worked with WorkSafeBC and advisor Kirstin Appelt to conduct a project &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/biwiki\/files\/2024\/10\/UBC-DIBS-2024-CBI-05-POP-FINAL.pdf\"><strong>Increasing Personal Optional Protection (POP)<\/strong> <strong>Enrolment to Protect Self-Employed Workers<\/strong><\/a><\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Summary:<br><\/em>This project aimed to increase uptake of Personal Optional Protection (POP), an optional insurance product offered by WorkSafeBC to self-employed workers in British Columbia who fall outside the provincial no-fault insurance system for workplace injuries. In a 2\u00d72+1 randomized controlled trial, four email reminders were tested against a control no-reminder condition: The \u201cinform\u201d email included details about POP, the \u201cinform plus head start\u201d email included the POP details plus a link to the POP application, the \u201cbusiness loss aversion\u201d email warned about potential impacts of adverse events, and the \u201cbusiness loss aversion plus head start\u201d email included the warning plus the link. None of the email reminders significantly increased POP application rates. However, all four emails were opened at a higher rate than WorkSafeBC\u2019s general benchmark.
