Who\u2019s Disclosing? The Influence of Mental Illness Disclosure on Stigma Mitigation in Hiring<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stigma is a significant obstacle that job candidates with mental illness face during the hiring process. Job candidates can strategically disclose their mental illness to combat stigma. In this talk, I will describe my research examining why job candidates with mental illness disclose during the hiring process, and the consequences of them doing so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the presenter<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Brent Lyons<\/strong> is an Associate Professor of Organization Studies at the Schulich School of Business at York University. His research involves the study of stigma and its consequences for the work, careers, and well-being of members of nondominant social groups, such as disabled employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
