The patent fight of daraprim

The author has a clear and concise content which correctly described business ethic. The drug “Daraprim” benefits the whole society, especially those Aids patients, and brings those patients normal lives. The author did a good job in relating her examples to the topic and citation was correct.https://blogs.ubc.ca/clairechen1/

Martin Shkreli’s action definitely disobeyed content of business ethic. As a successful company or businessman, he should help the society while making profits. However, Martin Shkreli’s action harmed public, especially those Aids patients. The true purpose of the invention of the drug was to help people while Martin Shkreli turned it into the opposite aspect—blackmail. Similar with the operation of black market, Martin Shkreli bought drugs at low price and sold them at high price which led to shortage. Some Aids patients can not afford such price and had no way for cure. The author clearly illustrated the purpose of Martin Shkreli’s action and concisely explained the relationship between the example and business ethic.

“A group of Sydney school students did not want to stand idly and they decided to solve it out.” Those students figured another way of making the drug by changing only one ingredient. They introduced this drug to market with a relatively lower price ($20). From my perspective, a good business should devote itself to charity, offer as more jobs as possible to help solve unemployment in the economy and follow market rules. Similarly, those students can earn great profit and bring benefits to society at the same time. The author believed that business ethics should be the responsibility to the whole society, the employers in the company, and the environment. I firmly agree with her ideal and I also believe companies should compete by following business rules and government rules.

To sum up, I do agree with the author’s opinions which also worth a good mark. It is a company’s obligation to help society while making profits at the same time.
