      2. Occurrence of terms: 1500-2019 Google Ngram<\/span>\"\" \n

        Rise of the word \u201ctechnology\u201d was steep but also corresponded with a rise in the use of \u201ctext\u201d a few years later. \u201cText\u201d remained higher than \u201ctechnology\u201d probably because it is now used as a verb \u201cto text\u201d. The word \u201ctechnology\u201d may have declined in use after the 2000s because it is perhaps referred to with more specific terms or type of technology: computer or smartphone or Alexa, etc.<\/li>\n
