About
May 15th, 2009 by Michele Brannon-Hamilton
My name is Michele Brannon-Hamilton and I’m an Online Learning Consultant for the University of Waterloo. Previously, I was an eLearning Consultant and a Virtual Community Project Manager at a college in Ontario, Canada. I love working in the eLearning field and I’m interested in developing online courses, online student services, and virtual communities. I believe that by working with students, we can create viable learning communities that allow them to interact with content, experts, and each other.
In 2010, I completed my Master of Educational Technology (MET) degree from the University of British Columbia and I have a degree in Sociology with a Legal Studies Option from the University of Waterloo, Canada. I’ve also taken courses in Criminology, Technical Writing, Web Design, Wills & Estates, Project Management, and Literacy Instruction.
The MET degree has opened my eyes to a world of online learning. I’ve enjoyed learning about technology, collaborating with classmates to create new knowledge, and designing engaging lessons using various types of social media.
I’m also a freelance writer and an online instructor. Recently, I authored, designed, and developed 3 online, pre-college courses for a local school board. Also, I developed and taught an online report writing course for literacy students. Previously, I taught computer literacy for 7.5 years.
As a professional writer for over 10 years, my non-fiction has been published in Canada, England and the United States. Currently, I write educational curriculum, online courses, and I maintain a blog.
My future goals include creating curriculum using new technology, teaching online, and writing web articles and fiction. My personal interests include writing, music, travel, movies, books, and technology.
Thank you for taking the time to visit.

Hi, Michele
I am doing a set of six video keynotes for the Commonwealth of Learning for free distribution on their YouTube channel, and I would like your permission to include an image from both your ETEC 520 e-portfolio and from your blog, as examples of the use of ‘simple’ tools for teaching and learning. I can send you a copy of the images I would like to use if I have your email address.
As someone who helped set up the MET many years ago, I just want to say how much I admire what you have done on these courses, from what I can see from your blog and e-portfolio
Best regards
Tony Bates
