Course outlines are instructors’ first \u00a0opportunity to make a lasting impression on students that is both personalized and professional. \u00a0An effective course outline reflects an instructor’s unique approach to and view of teaching and learning in the context of the course and while at the same time offering a global snapshot of a course framed by clear learning outcomes and expectations for in and out-of-class (i.e. online) activities and behaviors. \u00a0In this section, I have included examples of syllabi that offer a sampling of my teaching range and breadth and are representative of how I present myself and what I teach to my students from course descriptions to assessment methods in language and literature contexts at UBC. \u00a0While I do attempt to make such documents visually appealing and user-friendly, it is also important that they are reflective of the course content and learning goals and mindful of any UBC policies that guide the classroom environment.<\/p>\n
