Compassion and anxiety reduction in education. Role modelling. I would like to change the conversation on current topics in education that are often finished with a &#8220;that&#8217;s the way it is&#8221; sigh &#8211; such as gender inequality and patriarchal norms in general.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Philosophy:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Role modelling expectation communications to students very important. I believe that while teenagers are more influenced by their peers and more focused on peer acceptance than adult&#8217;s, the development of their future selves is more influenced by\u00a0the adult&#8217;s in their lives than their peers.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Growth through Inquiry<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>By integrating my\u00a0Apprentice Mindset\u00a0Inquiry\u00a0throughout my practicum I learned\u00a0to refine my \u00a0approach to including students in my inquiry processes. Basically &#8211; keep it simple. Genuine dialogue with student&#8217;s very important.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Professional Development <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Some more detail can be found on my professional development plan on my &#8220;further educational pursuits tab:&#8221; https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/bruntsheldon\/about-me\/further-academic-pursuits\/ , however I feel that the inquiry process will help keep me on my toes. For example, inquiry based questions such as, What is working? What isn&#8217;t? Where are my student&#8217;s?
