Blog 6: Comment on Eric Cui’s Blog: “Consumer Loyalty is Powerful”

From Eric’s commentary, he mentioned that there is a unusual pattern with the new iphone 6 and 6 plus, as it redefines Steve Job’s original intention of having smaller cellphones, and that there is a huge sale for the new iphones despite being more expensive than previous iphones. Eric believe that this is because of customer loyalty and I agree with his point of view.

No product is perfect, there is also room for improvements. Apple does a great job constantly launching new products and software with better designs, functionality and being more user friendly. In addition with such well established reputation build up through out the years, it has easily became people’s first choice for cellphone regardless what type of consumer he or she would be, whether is a technology fanatic or completely clueless to high tech product like me. Hence easily build up costumer loyalty.

Despite having comments saying that “sometimes Apple releases their products too soon”, it might be the other way around. Every product has its own life cycle, to a certain point of time, sales will decline eventually due to change in consumer’s taste or lacking of freshness, and thus companies has to launch new product to bring something new to customers. This might be the case for Apple, as they used to have very small screens which is what Steve Job intended, but it became gaining large attention when there are major changes with iphones, for example the new phone design of iphone 4, having different colour iphones, new layouts home screen, longer screen iphone 5, and now a big screen, Apple constantly brings something fresh to the table that gets consumers excited and thus not losing interest in Apple products but also having great expectation from Apple to launch new products, which I think also contributes a lot to why iphone 6 got such a huge responds.
