Blog 9: Pokemon demo version, getting gamers hyped? Relive childhood memorise!
The Pokemon Company is going to release its new game “Pokemon Omega Ruby” and “Pokemon Alpha Sapphire” on November 21, the remake of the pervious version “Pokemon Ruby” and “Pokemon Sapphire” released in 2002, but buyers are able to get a demo version for the first time before buying the actual game in October.
I think this is a smart strategy for The Pokemon Company to provide a demo version before the release of the actual game. There are more new features added to the game since the last one is released in 2013 and the demo is getting quite a lot of positive and interesting comments and reviews on it, giving players a small taste of what to expect from the games and much to look forward to the game, and get fans excited about it, making it more satisfying have players can get the full version of the game.
Demo is suppose to be for people who never used the product, or in this case it is more of a beginner kit, but I think old players of the games are more excited to get the demo version than new comers. This is not the first time they release a remake of a previous games, past sales for remaking of older versions proves it brings not only new comers, but also old players as well, making over millions sales globally.
I believe this is mostly because of how well the game is developed through out the years, better graphic, more features, better gaming system, there is a certain expectation for the game, in addition this is a remakes of an old version, which is probably a lot of people’s childhood memorise, leveling
up, getting new powers, trading stuffs with friends, this remakes makes it like making old feel new again.
I have also once played Pokemon when I was a child, I especially liked “Pokemon Ruby” because it is sort of my first game that I actually invest my time playing it, doing all the cool stuffs, the excitement when I played it, the joy of winning a battle, imagine I can play through that again in much better quality, and more importantly doing more stuffs that I wish I could have played back when I was playing the old version.
I might not be a gamers anymore, but imagining going through all those experiences once again, gets me even more eager to own one and relive those memorise, I’m sure that how gamers who played the old version before feel about this games now, and that’s why the demo is such a clever strategy, to get people to relive a bit of their childhood, so that they would be more eager to buy one as soon as it is released on the November 21. Given the success from the previous game “Pokemon X and Y”, selling over 4 million copies within 2 years, and the childhood memory factor, I believe this version will sell even more and would be a even greater success.
