Blog 11: ” If the United Nations was fully funded why would we need the Arc or social enterprise”?
The Arc and social enterprise can lead a helping hand to cover more grounds. Although UN was fully funded, it is impossible for one UN to fully cover all poverty in the world. There are nearly half of the world population suffer from extreme poverty, even for UN’s resources is a challenge to fully utilise and distribute its resources to all area. Here is where the Arc and social enterprise can help, the more help there are, the more people can be helped. And more importantly, the Arc and social enterprise can provide specific help to train people living in poverty so that they will be able to support themselves, speeding up a long term solution of solving poverty in the world.
The Arc and social enterprise can enhance the economic development of the third world countries. Even if UN has lots of resources, it might be hard for them to provide sufficient and specific education and training to third world countries, poverty will still continue, the demand of food and shelter will just keep increasing, so not only there will still be a huge burden for the UN, but eventually these third world countries will be trapped in a never ending poverty cycle. However the Arc and Social enterprise give a hand in helping people in poverty to build up the certain skill sets needed to support themselves. The Arc and Social enterprise provide help specifically to help poverty to work for themselves, for example funding for small businesses and business skills, so that they can build up specific skill sets, allowing them to earn money on their own, providing a long term solution the matter. As more and more people are able to build up the skill sets they needed, it can help form a more developed society, enhancing economic development of the area.
Although UN was fully funded, “even superman needs help sometimes”, simply one big organisation cannot save the world on its own, that’s why supports like the Arc and social enterprise is needed to be a part of this operation of helping third world countries as well. Solving world poverty still have a long way to go, but with enough help and support form the first world countries proving help such as the Arc and social enterprise, the faster poverty can be solve.
