The Indigenous Nursing Collective and the Nursing Undergraduate Society warmly invite the UBC Nursing community to a screening of the award-winning Portraits from a Fire, followed by a post-screening Q&A with the film’s lead actor, William Lulua.
Part coming-of-age comedy, part family mystery, the film follows Tyler, a young aspiring filmmaker whose humorous documentation of life in his Tsilhqot’in community takes an unexpected turn as long-buried family truths begin to surface.
We acknowledge that this event will be taking place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nation. We are grateful for the opportunity to gather here in the spirit of learning, relationship, and community.
