Sustainable Classrooms

One of the biggest projects I have been working on this school year was “Sustainable Classrooms”. Thanks to generous financial support from one of the youth organizations, Taking It Global, I managed to buy celebration kits for every class at Renfrew! The kits contain reusable plates, cups, utensils, sponges, and a table cloth. The kits are designed to avoid excessive waste and bring awareness regarding climate change. This project has resulted in many learning opportunities for students: we grew a community garden together and learned about food processes, discussed environmental issues and ways to stop climate change.  It has been a very successful year, and it is an honor to do such a work in the community. Thank you to all volunteers, staff, administration, friends, and families who have made this happen. Together we can change the world.

Do you have a simple project idea to support your community?

TakingITGlobal (TIG) is looking for young people who are inspired with ideas and ready to take action through youth-led community service grants

They all looked fabulous in their smart casual outfits.  A lot of parents came to support their children, as well as teachers and members of the administration. Younger students also gathered to say goodbye to their schoolmates. There was something intriguing and special about that moment.
