The first process is having the health professional explain to the subject exactly what is to be done in the lab, tell the subject the potential dangers of the activities, and get informed consent from the subject by making sure they agree to participate in the lab after they are educated on what is to be done. The physical activity readiness questionnaire (Par-Q) is a mandatory self-screening tool that tells health professionals the possible risks that the participant is at by performing the given activities; it asks questions about the person’s health history. A resting heart rate should be taken prior to any activity, because this will show how fit the individual is and how hypertrophied the individuals heart is. Another way to determine the subject’s health is to take their blood pressure before activity. The subject’s diastolic blood pressure should not increase during exercise. Also it is important for the subject’s height, weight, and BMI to be recorded as well which is important for determining what activities the subject can be involved in and what is safe for them.

We have attached a sample of what a basic health screening looks like for clients at Dynamic Fitness!

<colgroup>
<col span="5" width="77" /> </colgroup>

Subject 1, Pre-Exercise

Subject 2, Pre-Exercise

HR, (bpm)

76

HR

72

BP, (S/D)

125/80

BP

120/76

1) Basic Health Screening: There are numerous processes involved in health screening that are mandatory for subjects to complete before participating in activity.
